Taliban threaten principles of free speech: Amnesty International
Amnesty International on arrival of World Press Freedom Day said that the Taliban have threatend the principles of free speech and a free press since their takeover.
“Journalists have been arbitrarily detained, tortured, threatened, or even killed just for speaking out,” Amnesty International added.
Additionally, a number of journalists in exile said that the Taliban have limited the freedom of speech in Afghanistan, and Afghanistan-based journalists are facing serious security and economic problems.
Taliban took power back in mid-August 2021, and after that they have repeatedly and arbitrarily arrested and tortured a number of journalists and media staff in Afghanistan.
