Comprehensive Settlement in Afghanistan Will Ensure Peace in Eurasia: Russia

According to Russia’s updated Foreign Policy concept, approved by President Putin’s decree on Friday, a comprehensive settlement in Afghanistan will ensure peace and stability in Eurasia.
The updated Russian Foreign Policy indicated that ensuring peace and stability in Eurasia also requires a “comprehensive settlement in Afghanistan, assistance in building it as a sovereign, peaceful and neutral state with a stable economy and political system, which meets the interests of all the ethnic groups living there and opens up prospects for integrating Afghanistan into the Eurasian space for cooperation,” reported by TASS News Agency.
The document also stated that Moscow wants Eurasia to be a space of peace, stability and mutual trust while emphasizing a comprehensive settlement, a neutral state, a stable economy and an inclusive political system in Afghanistan.
According to various reports, the Moscow-led bloc has concerns over the current security situation in Afghanistan.
Simultaneously, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) chief, Imangali Tasmagambetov, on Friday expressed his concerns over the threats from Afghanistan and warned the organization’s member states.
“There is an increasing risk that terrorist groups and extremist ideas will infiltrate the territories of our CSTO allies. Complex threats coming from Afghanistan are of particular concern,” he said.
He also pointed out that various groups, including those behind illicit drug production and trafficking, were strengthening their presence and position in Afghanistan, which is a significant concern to the member countries.
Meanwhile, in a recent meeting in New Delhi by the member states of SCO, a Russian envoy warned the organization’s member states of the risk and threats from Afghanistan.
It is a matter of significant concern about the security threat from Afghanistan, including “Terrorism, illegal arms, drug trafficking, illegal migration and the spread of extremist ideology,” he said.
However, Taliban authorities have denied the remarks and said that the Afghan security forces had destroyed several Daesh hideouts in the country and would not allow any group to use Afghanistan’s soil against neighbouring states.
