Taliban deny claims of US regarding activities of ISIS in Afg

The Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said that the remarks of the US officials regarding the number of ISIS fighters in Afghanistan is “unrealistic” and do not match with the reality on the ground, adding that the number of ISIS fighters has decreased, and they have been suppressed.

“The interest of the US officials in this issue, and magnifying it is cooperation and a campaign in favor of ISIS in a way,” Mujahid said.

The Taliban urged the US to stop campaigning in favor of ISIS.

Mujahid denied the number of ISIS fighters which has been claimed by the US authorities.

The news comes as Gen. Michael ‘Erik’ Kurilla, the commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), said “ISIS is stronger today in Afghanistan.”

“ISIS is a global organization. They have an organization called the Al-Siddiq office that is responsible for all of ISIS from Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, all the way down to Indonesia,” Kurilla said.

“They do communicate back and forth with the head of ISIS, the global affiliate,” he added.

It is mentionable that the Taliban repeatedly reject the presence of ISIS in Afghanistan, but sometimes release some reports regarding operation on ISIS hideouts. In most recent case the Taliban claimed that at least 3 members of ISIS killed in PD 12 Kabul.
