UNICEF expresses conceen on level of acute malnutrition in Afg

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund [UNICEF] has warned that women and children are suffering from malnutrition in Afghanistan, and the figure of those suffering has increased 50% than past years.

The UNICEF regional advisor for nutrition South Asia, Zivai Murira, in his trip to Nad-e- Ali district of Helmand says that the number of those suffering from malnutrition that are predominantly women and children reaches 80,000.

The organization have said the crisis will be prevented with the help of humanitarian organizations.

UNICEF has said that $186 milion is needed to address the difficulty of women and children in Afghanistan.

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund also underlined that food for women and children must be provided in Afghanistan.

The news comes as according to the figures 23 million people including 12 million women and girls are facing food insecurity in Afghanistan.
