The first batch of new Afghani banknotes printed by a French company is expected to arrive in Afghanistan in May 2023.
Shah Mohammad Mehrabi, Central Bank supreme council member and board of the Afghan Trust Fund in Switzerland, told ToloNews that the French company has committed to delivering the first batch of Afghani banknotes in May 2023 and the remaining in the last quarter of this year.
This comes as the Union of Money Exchangers of Sarai Shahzada had voiced concerns about the challenges caused by worn-out Afghani banknotes of 500 and 1000 denominations.
According to ToloNews, Afghanistan has signed a contract for printing Afghani banknotes with Polish company PWPW and French company Oberthur Fiduciaire.
