China To Become Afghanistan’s 2nd Largest Trading Partner in 2023
Following a positive trade balance of USD 49.9 million in 2022 with Afghanistan, China may become the second largest trading partner of Afghanistan in 2023 after Pakistan.
According to reports from Chinese sources, China imported USD 9 million from Afghanistan and exported USD 59 million in December 2022.
The top exports to China from Afghanistan were nuts, animal hair, semi-precious stones, dried fruits, and vegetables. The imports included, synthetic filaments, yarn woven fabrics, rubber tires, other synthetic fabrics, semiconductors, and various commodities.
Meanwhile, Pakistan and Afghanistan’s bilateral trade stood at USD 1.513 billion in 2022 (according to the State Bank of Pakistan), followed by India at USD 545 million (according to the Indian Ministry of Commerce).
