Death toll of deadly earthquake in Turkey, Syria rises to 4444
The number of people killed in the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria has increased to 4444, some reports indicate.
In accordance with the reports 4444 people died in the earthquake and more than 18000 have been injured.
Mere 3000 deceased ones belong to Turkey.
Reuters reported that freezing winter weather adding to the plight of the thousands left injured or homeless and hampering efforts to find survivors.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, has declared a week as national mourning following the fatal incident.
The huge earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 took place in southeastern regions of Turkey and northern Syria on Monday, February 06, 2023.
Later that day another earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 occurred, which increased the number of casualties.
Erdogan stated that 45 countries have suggested to offer aid to reach the victims.
The death toll of Monday’s earthquake was the highest in Turkey since 1999, when a similar powerful earthquake devastated the densely populated eastern Sea of Marmara region near Istanbul, killing more than 17000.
