Amid the escalation of the war in Ukraine, the Bide Administration has confronted China government over secretly providing assistance to Russia in the Ukraine war, according to sources.
China’s possible assistance includes non-lethal military and economic support to the Russian regime which has been sanctioned by the United States and its allies after Moscow invaded Ukraine in February 2021.
American Political experts have raised their concerns with their Chinese counterparts in this regard and warned against supplying material support to fuel the war in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, President Xi Jinping has been criticized for not condemning Russia over the invasion of Ukraine and being quite passive in this very critical matter. Although the Chinese Premier avoided criticizing the war in Ukraine, he has been vocal enough in playing an active role in potential peace talks between the warring parties and coming out against nuclear weapons in the war.
The relationship is quite close between Russia and China now than ever before, which translates that China is doing more than what it once did to support Russia according to U.S. officials. Although they have no concrete evidence to support this claim, skepticism is increasingly growing regarding China’s baking of Russia.
On the contrary, trade relations between China and Russia have exponentially grown this year compared to that of last year, as the neighboring nations declared a “no limit” relationship before the outbreak of war in Ukraine.
The claims that Chinese companies support Russia in Ukraine conflict may have troubling implications for U.S. policy towards China and Russia.
The United States relations with China have already soured over Taiwan, as the autonomous islands seek full independence from China in its external affairs, whereas, China supports the “One China” policy.
