Russian Ready To Participate in TAPI Project

Russia has expressed interest in participating in the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline.

In an interview with Russian 24 television, Zamir Kabulov said, “Russia will also take part in the TAPI if receives a proposal from partners Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.”

Kabulov said Russia has always supported the TAPI project and regarded it as an important project for the greater Asian continent.

Meanwhile, Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov also confirmed Russia’s willingness to participate in the TAPI project and said the matter is being discussed.

The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline will transport up to 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year through a steel pipeline to energy deficient South Asian nations.
