Border Tensions Continue Between Taliban and Pakistani Forces

The border tension between Pakistan and the Taliban is still not resolved after firing exchanged on Tuesday this week between the forces of the two sides along the Durand Line.

The Taliban group stated on Wednesday, claiming that when the Taliban border forces tried to reach Pakistani forces in reaction to security check post creation by Pakistani border forces, the Pakistani forces opened fire at the Taliban which resulted in a fire exchange between the two sides.

The clashes took place on the border between Pakistan’s Karam tribal district and Afghanistan’s Paktia province, the Taliban said.

Taliban spokespersons Zabihullah Mujahid and Bilal Karimi said that their forces responded by firing back at Pakistani security forces.

According to Mujahid, both sides have suffered casualties but have not stated the exact casualties.

However, the Pakistani side stated that their forces responded to cross-border firing by “militants” that killed three of its soldiers.

According to Pakistani media reports, the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) based in Afghanistan had initially claimed responsibility for the attack on Pakistani security forces.
