KABUL (BNA) The Ministry of Public Works in its accountability program to the nation today, Saturday announced that four major projects worth 138 were completed by the Ministry in a year.
Mawlawi Abdul Karim Fateh, deputy technical minister of the Ministry of Public Works, said during a press conference at the Government Media and Information center that after the sovereignty of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the ministry has completed four major projects worth 138 million Afghanis.
According to him, among these projects, the reconstruction of the Kabul-Kandahar highway with a cost of 69 million Afghanis, the reconstruction of the Qalat-Shinkai Road with a cost of 6 million Afghanis, and the repair of the bridges of this route, with a cost of 15 million afghanis worth repair and maintenance of 5 bridges and more than 48 million afghanis worth of major repairs of Kabul-Maidan city road.
Meanwhile, a repair survey of 205km of wrecked road and 583 destroyed bridges with a length of about 4 thousand meters and new construction and design of 184 bridges and 610 meters of retaining walls with a length of about 3 thousand meters were carried out, he added.
Later, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Works Mawlawi Hamidullah Meesbah provides details about the development projects of the ministry and said that the ministry has about 50 uncomplete development projects, some of which are funded by the government and others by the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and Funded by the Saudi Development Bank.
According to Meesbah, the Ministry of Public Works has been able to build 1,831 km of roads, 1,000 meters of bridges, 404 meters of reinforced bridges, and 1,147 meters of retaining walls in different provinces of the country.
The projects are implemented in 34 provinces including Kabul, according to the Ministry.
According to the officials of the Ministry of Public Works, a contract has been signed for the reconstruction of the road from Kabul to Ghazni, adding that the work construction of the project will start shortly.
Same like that Ministry added, that talks are going on with donors about the construction of the Kabul ring road and the implementation of Herat-Ghor and some other projects.
It is worth mentioning, that the Ministry of Public Works of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as an important member of the transport infrastructure sector, is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and monitoring of national, provincial, and district roads in the implementation of development goals and policies.
