Mawlawi Mahdi a Rebels Leader in Herat Border

KABUL (BNA) The Ministry of National Defense says that Maulvi Mehdi, the leader of the rebels in the Balkhab district of Sar-e-Pul killed by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan forces, on Wednesday.

He wanted to escape the country to move to Iran, adding he was fled to the mountains after defeated by security forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, said the Ministry on his Twitter handle.

The Islamic Emirate forces after recognizing him killed on the border, today Wednesday, added the Ministry in his tweets.

Formerly, Mawlawi Mahdi served as the head of intelligence of the Islamic Emirate in Bamyan for a while, which he later stands against Islamic Emirate and after some conflict, he fled to Balkhab district.

The forces of the Islamic Emirate conducted an operation to arrest him at the same time, but Mawlawi Mahdi managed to escape and was killed today Wednesday near the border of Iran in Herat province.
