Larger Hemp Shipments Discovered in Southeast Afghanistan

GARDEZ (BNA) Paktia police after an investigation discovered large shipments of hemp in the country southeast on Tuesday, said local security officials.

The drug traffickers were striving to smuggle thousands of kilograms of hemp to Pakistan, said reports.

Omar Badri spokesperson for the commander of police of Paktia told BNA the police arrested some in the case of the smuggling of the drugs.

The detainees had loaded packages of hemp in trucks to carry them to Pakistan, while arrested by police from the outskirt of Gardez city the capital of the province.

The police personnel of the province, on their move succeeded to curb the smuggling of thousands of kilograms of hemp to Pakistan, said a local source.
