The Taliban “grossly” violated the Doha Agreement by hosting and sheltering al Qaeda’s top leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Monday.
Blinked added in the statement that the Taliban have betrayed the people of Afghanistan and their desire to normalize relations with the international community.
“In the face of the Taliban’s unwillingness or inability to abide by their commitments, we will continue to support the Afghan people with robust humanitarian assistance and to advocate for the protection of their human rights, especially of women and girls,” Blinken said in the statement.
The US foreign minister has also emphasized that the world will be safer without Zawahiri and the US will continue its measures against those who threaten the security of this country and its allies.
The US killed leader Zawahiri in a strike in Kabul, the Afghanistan capital, this week Sunday morning.
