Gunmen Shoot a Greengrocer Dead in Northeastern Afghanistan

Local sources in Takhar province of northeastern Afghanistan report that unidentified gunmen killed a man in the vicinity of the Taliban’s local intelligence agency in Taloqan city, the provincial capital.

The incident took place on Wednesday, July 27, according to the source, behind the Taliban government’s intelligence agency in Taloqan city.

The young man, Saeed, was selling fruit juice at the Kalan Shahr school gate in Taloqan City when the assailants opened fire on him, instantly killing him, according to sources.

A separate account of the events, on the other hand, contends that Saeed was shot dead after a drug addict broke into his house.

While there are contradictory findings on this young man’s death, the reason why he was killed is still unknown.

At the same time, the local Taliban officials have not yet responded to the incident.

Intractable, mysterious killings and other crimes persist in various areas despite the Taliban’s claims of security, that the group has been able to preserve the security of the nation and its people.

Earlier this month, an elderly woman in her 50s was stabbed to death by unidentified men at her own house, in Kapisa province in central Afghanistan, and a university lecturer’s body was later discovered with signs of torture after he had been missing for some time.
