Dangers of Summertime Swims; Young Boy Drowns While Swimming in Central-Eastern Afghanistan

According to local officials in Kapisa province, in central-eastern Afghanistan, a teenage boy drowned to death while swimming in the turbulent Panjshir river, in Kapisa province.

A young boy named Shekib drowned while swimming in the Panjshir river, according to a statement by the Taliban’s spokesperson for the chief of the provincial police in Kapisa.

The incident, according to him, took place on Wednesday afternoon, 27th of July, in Kapisa province’s Hessa Awal district.

In a separate incident, on Friday, in Ghor province, in central Afghanistan, two schoolboys drowned in the Harirod river, where one was drowned to death and the other was rescued.

In addition, three women went swimming on Sunday in the southern Afghan province of Helmand; two of them were saved, while one of them perished in the water.

People in Afghanistan’s warm provinces have taken to water activities as a result of the rising temperature and summer season, and these activities have seen a rise in casualties recently.

Many people who survive drowning incidents end up with serious, and frequently permanent, life-altering injuries simply as a result of ignoring the hidden risks associated with summertime swimming.
