The US Special Envoy for Afghan Women, Girls, and Human Rights, Rina Amiri, said that security, economic stability and peace cannot be achieved without upholding the rights of women, ending abuses against all ethnic and religious communities and fostering an inclusive political process.
“I countered claims that the Taliban’s regressive policies are based on Afghan culture, arguing that most Afghans aspire for education, work & opportunities for a better future for their sons & daughters,” she said. “Was heartened to see international solidarity in support of girls’ right to education & strong support for women’s right to work in order to contribute to the economy.”
Amiri added that most of the participants called for an inclusive political process, no one expressed support for Taliban recognition.
She reiterated that she will not participate in the bilateral talks with the Taliban.
Earlier she had said that when she is ready to take part in negotiations that the Taliban are ready to ensure human in particular women’s rights.
International community especially the US has said that the Taliban must form an inclusive government, respect all Afghans’ rights including women and girls and minorities and cut their ties with terrorist groups.
