Taliban Extrajudicially Executing Civilians in Balkhab in Apparent War Crimes, Says AIHRC
Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC), which has been dissolved by the Taliban, has issued a statement condemning the Taliban’s violation of international humanitarian law in Balkhab district, Sar-e-Pul province.
AIHRC on Tuesday accused the Taliban of killing civilians in Panjshir and Baghlan provinces and Balkhab district, Sar-e-Pul province.
The commission said in a statement that its new testimony indicates that a large number of civilians had been killed during Taliban offensives.
AIHRC said that according to its new findings, the Taliban have killed civilians in Balkhab district, destroying a number of houses.
Based on the findings of the human rights group, the Taliban have killed prisoners, bombed civilian areas, and forced people to flee their homes.
The commission also announced in its announcement that the telecommunication networks were cut off and the roads to Balkhab district were blocked.
The commission called on aid agencies to help the affected civilians in Balkhab through launching relief programs in these difficult times.
