AIJA: A Local Journalist Disappeared in Kapisa
In a statement, the Afghanistan Independent Journalists Association (AIJA) has reported that Abdul Hanan Mohammadi, the association’s representative and local journalist has disappeared in Kapisa.
According to AIJA’s statement, Mohammadi has been missing in Kapisa province since noon yesterday (June 12, 2022).
His family members have reported that he has not returned home since yesterday as he was supposed to prepare a report.
His relatives are worried that Taliban rebels may have taken him to custody.
Parwez Aminzada, a spokesman for the AIJA, told Hasht-e Subh that the investigation is ongoing to trace Mohammadi’s whereabouts.
This journalist went missing as Taliban’s intelligence members in Kapisa recently issued harsh warnings to reporters working for media outlets that are the critics of the Taliban regime in a coordinated meeting with the journalists of in Kapisa, Parwan, and Panjshir.
Media and freedom of speech are on the brink of collapse since the Taliban group gained power. They believe in no value and any platform/individual that works towards the promotion of human rights and public awareness; meanwhile, their enemy deserve to be either demolished or killed.
