A Civilian Shot Dead by Taliban Fighters in Panjshir Province

Taliban forces shot dead a man in the village of Pishgur in the first part of Panjshir Valley on Sunday (June 12th).

The source says that the victim’s name was Morteza Rasouli and he was suffering from a neurological disease. The source added that Taliban forces have shot him in the back.

There are reports indicating that Taliban forces have detained, tortured and killed civilians and prisoners, destroying and confiscating civilian property in Panjshir, Baghlan and Takhar provinces. According to international definitions of atrocity crimes, intentionally killing civilians or prisoners of war, torture, taking hostages, unnecessarily destroying civilian property, wartime sexual violence and so on carry the hallmark of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Human Right Watch (HRW) recently confirmed that Taliban forces in northern Afghanistan’s Panjshir province have unlawfully detained and tortured residents accused of associations with the National Resistance Front (NRF).
