Hashmatullah Arshad, a spokesman for Hezb-e-Islami led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, has joined the National Resistance Front.
According to sources, Mr. Arshad’s joining the National Resistance Front is probably due to Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s harsh remarks against this Resistance Front.
The leader of Hezb-e-Islami, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, has recently said that the Resistance Front “is trying to start another civil war in Afghanistan and must be suppressed”.
Hezb-e-Islami led by Hekmatyar fought against Jamiat-e-Islami after the Islamic State came to power in 1992, their conflict continued for years until Hekmatyar was defeated in those wars and sought refuge in Pakistan.
