Anisa Shaheed, Afghan Female Journalist, Wins ICFJ Award

The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) announced its annual Knight International Journalism Awards, recognizing excellent reporting that makes a difference in the lives of people around the world.
According to the International Center for Journalists’ list, Afghan journalist Anisa Shaheed, a team of Ukrainian journalists, and a journalist from El Salvador have won the annual award.
Anisa Shaheed has called on the international media supporting organizations to work together in order to retain the achievements of freedom of speech and human rights in Afghanistan.
Ms. Shaheed also won the annual Freedom of Expression Award in Afghanistan in 2021.
Anisa Shaheed used to work as a television reporter for TOLOnews, Afghanistan’s first 24/7-news network till the time government collapsed under the Taliban’s control.
After the Taliban returned in 2021, rolling back women’s rights and threatening journalists with death, Ms, Anisa was forced to flee along with thousands of her colleagues and fellow citizens.
