Muttaqi met the UN special rapporteur on situation of human rights in Afghanistan
Acting foreign minister of Taliban, Amir Khan Muttaqi, met the UN special rapporteur on situation of human rights in Afghanistan, Richard Bennett.
Taliban’s foreign ministry spokesman, Abdul Qahar Balkhi, in a series of tweets said that Muttaqi urged the UN special rapporteur to prepare their reports in Afghanistan based on documented facts, not according to the media and some biased circles or the reports of opponents outside the country.
According to him, Mr. Bennett promised to prepare their reports based on facts.
The news comes as the UN special rapporteur in Afghanistan has started his 11-day visit.
Mr. Bennett intends to carry out a field visit to obtain information despite meeting authorities of Taliban, members of civil society and diplomats living currently in Afghanistan.
Earlier Mr. Bennett expressed his concern over the reports that Taliban committed war crimes in Panjshir, Takhar and Baghlan.
Bennett had said that videos, audio files and reports of “very worrying human rights violations in Panjshir, Baghlan and Takhar have been released that need further confirmation.
