The National Liberation Front claims to have killed the Taliban intelligence chief for western Kabul.
The front said on Friday (May 6) that its forces had killed Mullah Hafizullah Badr, the Taliban’s intelligence chief for western Kabul, in the Bagh-e Dawood of the Company area.
According to the front, Badr is accused of extorting money from people in western Kabul and carrying out suicide attacks on mosques, religious sites and schools in Kabul.
It is also said that Badr had already been imprisoned and sentenced to death during the former government, but was has been released by Ashraf Ghani.
Taliban affiliates, including the Haqqani Network, have carried out deadly attacks on religious sites, civilian infrastructure and mosques in past 20 years. The Taliban currently has two or three battalions of suicide bombers.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident. Recently, attacks on Taliban forces in cities have increased.
