Kabul – Local sources in Takhar province have confirmed that anonymous armed men opened fire on the Taliban rebels in the Dasht-e-Qala district, killing two Taliban members, including a commander.
According to sources, the incident occurred on Wednesday night, adding that the gunmen have seized a number of weapons from the Taliban.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Taliban in Takhar province have not yet commented on the incident.
Before the collapse of the former government, the Taliban rebels used to murder the security forces by targeting them whether by guns or planted mines in some parts of the country. However, unidentified armed men now use the same tricks against the Taliban rebels.
