Supreme leader of Taliban prohibited the usage, cultivation, transportation, export and import of all types of narcotics

Supreme leader of Taliban, Mullah Hibatullah, in a new decree prohibited the cultivation of poppy all across Afghansitan from today on. According to the decree if anyone violates the order, their crop will be destroyed, and the person will be treated according to the Shria law.

“In addition, usage, transportation, trade, export and import of all types of narcotics such as alcohol, heroin, tablet K, hashish and etc… including drug manufacturing factories in Afghanistan are strictly banned,” the decree reiterated.

The decree stated that enforcement of above issues are mandatory, and the violators will be prosecuted and punished by judiciary.

Afghanistan is the world’s largest producer of opium. In past twenty years, along with the Taliban, a large number of global smuggling networks and regional intelligence agencies have been making money from this lucrative business.

The United Nations estimated the value of Afghanistan’s GDP through narcotics at between $1.8 billion and $2.7 billion last year.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in its latest report said that drug trafficking in Afghanistan is still the largest illegal economic activity.
