Taliban Arrests Baqer Mohseni, University Professor and Political Affairs Analyst

Kabul – It is reported that the Taliban has arrested Sayed Baqer Mohseni, but no official has confirmed his detention.

“Mr. Mohseni and two of his friends were summoned by the officials on Friday. Since then, they are missing and have not returned home.” Sayed Massoud Kazemi, a relative of Mohesni says.

“Since Friday afternoon, we have not heard about his condition and his cell phone is off,” Kazemi wrote on his Facebook page.

In the meantime, he has called on Taliban authorities to release Sayed Baqer Mohseni as soon as possible.

Mr. Mohseni has recently appeared in several round table programs on televisions with very strong critics on current affairs and the way the Taliban roles the country. In addition to emphasizing on formation of an inclusive government by Taliban, he has been strongly criticizing the actions and performance of Taliban. He has put a big question mark on Taliban’s capacity of ruling the country.

Recently, Mr. Mohseni had raised the concerns of censorship on his programs and had claimed that Taliban officials do not allow the media to publish his speeches and interviews.
