Kabul – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has expressed concerns over the economic situation of Afghanistan.
“People in Afghanistan are at risk of poverty more than ever and more practical steps must be taken to support them,” tweeted Eloi Fillion, the committee’s director on Wednesday, March 2.
Mr. Fillion further stated, “Here in Kabul, I see a growing number of beggars on the streets or women standing in line at bakeries, desperately waiting for bread.”
Meanwhile, according to recent reports, a high percentage of Afghanistan’s population is at risk of poverty, and they are increasingly in danger of starvation.
