Messi has assisted 10 goals in Ligue 1, more than any other player

Messi’s 2 assists and Kylian Mbappe’s masterful performance saw PSG bounce back from their shock defeat last week against Nantes to win 3-1 against St. Etienne at the Parc des Princes.
His two goals saw him join former PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the all-time PSG goal-scoring records, as he drew level on 156 goals.
But it was Etienne who struck first. In the 16th minute, Danilo Pereira was caught trying to dribble on the edge of his own box and was duly punished by Denis Bouanga, who finished powerfully into the bottom corner to give the away side a shock lead.
PSG then struck back before halftime thanks to Mbappe, who was played through by a vintage Lionel Messi through ball. He run clear and his shot was fired at Paul Bernadoni but he was unable to keep it out.
The Frenchman then drew level with Ibra’s record thanks to another link-up with Messi. Neat footwork from the Argentinian on the edge of the box saw him play in Mbappe who fired powerfully across Bernadoni who was beaten by the power of the shot.
Five minutes later he was involved again, this time laying on a delightful outside of the boot cross for Danilo, who had the easy task of applying the finish from close range.
PSG had chances late on to add to the tally, but that win sees them go 16 points clear at the top of Ligue 1, as the runaway leaders look to retain their title.
