Local sources in Kunduz province say unidentified gunmen shot dead a former government soldier and his brother.
Sources confirm the news, adding that the incident took place on Thursday in Charikarya village of Kunduz’s Khanabad district.
Mohammad Shafi’, a soldier in the previous government, and his brother, Mash’ur Jaber, were killed by unknown assailants.
A relative of the two brothers, who did not want to be identified, told Hasht-e Subh that unidentified gunmen in military uniforms fled the scene after killing the two brothers.
The Kunduz police headquarters’ press office said, in a statement, that the Taliban had arrested six people in military uniforms in Dasht-e-Archi district.
The detainees are accused of killing two brothers in the Charikarya village of Kunduz’s Khanabad district, according to the statement. The detainees’ files have been handed over to the Taliban-led government’s judiciary.
According to reports, the crime rate in Kunduz has recently increased and, some of the victims are soldiers of former security forces.
