Kabul – The Free Speech Hub has reported that the Taliban forces had forcibly canceled the news conference of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).
Before holding the conference, a bunch of Taliban forces rushed to the meeting place, threatening and pressuring the federation’s officials to cancel the conference, according to the FSH’s statement.
The Taliban detained Masrour Lotfi, Fardin Atai, and Zarif Karimi in their vehicles, saying they have their arrest warrant, the statement said.
At the news conference of the International Federation, the results of the first survey on the situation of journalists, access to information, and violence against journalists were supposed to be published from August 15 until now.
In addition, the Speech Hub considers this act of the Taliban to be a clear violation of the freedom of expression in the country.
Moreover, it called on the Taliban not to further violate freedom of expression and to refrain from creating an atmosphere of terror.
On the other hand, UNAMA called the ban of the news conference a restriction on freedom of expression and called on the Taliban not to restrict the activities of those who think differently.
It is worth mentioning that the meeting of the International Federation of Journalists was canceled by the Taliban on (Wednesday, January 26).
