Taliban Fines Badakhshan Residents for Not Attending Congregational Prayers

Sources confirm that the Taliban in Badakhshan’s Yawan district fined 73 people who did not attend congregational prayers 500 afghanis.

Locals said the incident took place on Friday morning, January 21, at the Dasht-e Soleiman Mosque. But the Taliban in Badakhshan have said nothing about it.

Popular sources in Yawan claimed that the Taliban told the people that it is obligatory to offer five daily prayers in the congregation.

Earlier, the Taliban in some parts of the country took the worshipers present, insisting that those who did not attend the congregational prayers would be interrogated.

The Taliban have imposed severe restrictions on civil and personal liberties after taking control of Afghanistan.
