Kabul – Local Taliban officials in Jowzjan province told the media that they had arrested six people in connection with bird hunting in the province.
The men were arrested on charges of bird hunting and wildlife damage today (Thursday, January 20), according to the Taliban-affiliated Bakhtar state news agency.
A special unit has recently been set up in cooperation with the Taliban police command in the province to protect historical monuments, archeological sites, and wildlife, officials in Jowzjan added.
The military unit operates under the framework of the Taliban Information and Culture Department in Jowzjan.
Meanwhile, the Taliban-acting government has already announced that deforestation and threatening wildlife are prohibited in the country.
