Health Staff Protestors: ‘Our Families Want Food’

Kabul – A bunch of doctors and health workers of a governmental hospital in Takhar province protested against the non-payment of their salaries.

One of the doctors, who did not want to be named, told Hasht-e Subh that she and her colleagues had not been paid for six months.

According to the doctor, they have no money to buy food, but the officials of the Ministry of Public Health have not paid any attention to them.

Protesting doctors say that while they have repeatedly approached public health officials to pay their salaries, they only make promises and do nothing in practice.

“We will quit if our salaries are not paid,” said doctors.

Meanwhile, teachers in the two districts of Takhar also protested against the non-payment of their salaries on (Sunday, January 16).
