Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan by creating a committee called the Humanitarian Assistance Coordination Committee (HACC) asked the international community and donors, in particular, to coordinate with them aids to be delivered transparently.
HACC is led by the second Deputy Prime Minister of the IEA Abdul Salaam Hanafi and comprises relevant Afghan government ministries and administrations and UN aid agencies operating in Afghanistan.
The Committee convened its first high-level meeting in Finance Ministry on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Speaking at the meeting, Abdul Salaam Hanafi said that the IEA is fully supportive of UN agencies’ operations Across Afghanistan, providing the facilities and security and that it does not interfere in the UN’s policies.
“We want the aid agencies to use the Afghan government’s capacity, coordinate aids with the Afghan government so that the aid be delivered and distributed transparently, objectively, and impartially.” Said Hanafi.
In the meantime, the Deputy PM expressed gratitude to the UN’s recent request of $5 billion for Afghanistan but added that humanitarian aid can never eliminate the humanitarian crisis so the International Community must work on economic activities in Afghanistan.
UN Secretary-General’s Deputy Special Representative to Afghanistan Ramiz Alakbrove who had attended the meeting said, the UN will remain in Afghanistan and will not leave along with the Afghan people.
Alakbrove said that they have a commitment to deliver aid to the Afghan people and they have proved that commitment by 158 aid agencies operative in Afghanistan.
He thanked the Afghan government for providing them with security and facilities while delivering aids in Afghanistan.
