Kabul – Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirms that the acting foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has visited with Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the National Resistance Front (NRF), and Ismail Khan, a jihadi leader, in Tehran.
“The Taliban have assured Ahmad Massoud and Ismail Khan that they can return to the country without any worries,” tweeted Zabihullah Mujahid today (Monday, January 10th).
“They are trying to make the future of the country safe for everyone so that no one has a reason to oppose it,” Mujahid said.
On the other hand, Sibghatullah Ahmadi, a spokesman for the National Resistance Front (NRF), denied that the leader of the Front had met with the acting foreign minister of the Taliban-led government the previous day.
Meanwhile, there were reports yesterday that the Afghan embassy in Tehran had surrendered to the Taliban. However, Saeed Khatibzadeh, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said on Sunday, January 9, that the diplomatic activity of the Afghan embassy in Tehran, like all foreign embassies, is within the framework of the principles and rules defined in the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and no outside change is possible. .
