Taliban officials in Kapisa province confirmed that 53 people have been arrested in Nijrab district for selling drugs.
Sabrullah Ikhlas, the Taliban’s counter-narcotics commander at Nijrab’s police command, told Hasht-e Subh on Tuesday that the men had been detained in different parts of the district over the past two months.
He did not specify the quantity of illegal drugs seized from the detainees. He said, however, that various weapons had been obtained from the detainees.
Meanwhile, local Taliban officials in the Nijrab of Kapisa province reported that 27 drug addicts had been found in the district.
Residents of Kapisa’s Nijrab district had previously expressed concern about drug trafficking in various parts of the district.
