Kabul – A three-day polio vaccine campaign has been launched in Nimruz province, local sources say.
“The implementation of the polio vaccine has been very effective in preventing the spread of polio,” said Mullah Abdul Rahman Abdullah, head of the Nimruz Public Health Department to Hasht-e Subh.
In addition, he called on all polio vaccine campaign staff to make every effort to implement the vaccine.
The campaign was launched in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Moreover, the campaign, which runs for three days in all parts of central Zaranj, Nimruz, is expected to vaccinate thousands of children under the age of five in the province.
Meanwhile, the polio vaccination process had already started in other provinces and millions of children were supposed to receive the polio vaccine.
