Kabul – The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has expressed concern over the current situation in Afghanistan, warning that if the international community is indifferent to the challenge and does not act, it could become the biggest man-made humanitarian crisis.
The Pakistani Prime Minister spoke at a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation today Sunday, saying that no country had suffered as much as Afghanistan in recent years.
Even before the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, half of the country’s population lived below the poverty line, he stressed.
Moreover, Imran Khan reminded that Afghanistan’s economy is based on foreign aid and about 75% of the country’s budget is financed by foreign aid.
In the meantime, Khan stated that any country in a similar situation to Afghanistan would fall.
The OIC also has a religious duty to help the people of Afghanistan, he added.
Meanwhile, the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Afghanistan is being hosted by Pakistan.
